Mamute Martial Arts is Durham Region's only Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay-Thai and Self-Defence School with multiple locations in Ajax and Oshawa. Our academy offers BJJ, Muay-Thai, Self-Defence, Kickboxing and MMA training. Mamute Martial Arts also provides private coaching sessions and a competitive grappling team. We have instructional classes for different age ranges of children and adults for co-ed programs. Mamute Martial arts focuses on anti-bullying and self-defence techniques for children. As they progress in age, we have youth and adult BJJ / Muay-Thai classes. We are a family oriented gym with many member exclusive events both at our Ajax and Oshawa locations. Located in Ajax and Oshawa, our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu programs are very popular throughout the Durham Region and Greater Toronto Area. Brazilian jiu-jitsu is a martial art that teaches a smaller person how to defend oneself against a larger adversary by using leverage and proper technique. The founders of BJJ, modified judo and traditional Japanese jujutsu to create the art. It contains stand-up maneuvers, but it is most famous for its ground-fighting techniques. Gaining superior positioning—so one can apply the style’s numerous chokes, holds, locks and joint manipulations on an opponent—is the key in BJJ. Introduction to BJJ is for anyone with no previous Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu experience. Focus is on the fundamental movements. At the end of the course, students are welcome to join in regular classes.
